| WHAT GOD DID FOR YOU (continued)
The Bible tells the story of how Christ was born of a virgin in Bethlehem. It describes the perfect and sinless life that He lived here on Earth, being both fully God and fully man. The Bible then describes how Jesus was later tortured and beaten, and hung on a cross and crucified to die on Mount Calvary.
But why, you ask, would God let such a terrible and awful thing happen to his own Son? He allowed it because He loves all men. He created us so that we might have a personal relationship with Him. Jesus' death was God's plan to make a way for all men to be able to come back to Him, so that we would no longer have to be separated from Him, and could one day spend all of eternity with Him in Heaven.
God allowed Jesus to freely give his own life for us, as atonement for our sins. That means that God loves YOU so much that He paid the price and pardon for YOUR sins with the shed blood of his one and only beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
